Solution Summary
In this service design, the bagas are being collected by the third participant and get back to the log estive system. buyers can borrow these bags as easily as they can buy plastic ones at pickup-store.
As we do believe in the human-centered design method, we started this challenge with user research and trying to find the pain points and barriers of users in the process of using plastic bags. Through deep interviews and online surveys, we found that one of the main reasons which users do not use sustainable bags instead of plastic ones is the inaccessibility of those bags, some said they have too many fabric bags at home and they forgot to bring or it’s hard for them to always bring something extra for buying especially when they go shopping from work.
So we defined our question as “What if we can make these sustainable bags more accessible ”
We are talking about a service design that supports buyers to have sustainable bags in any situation especially if they forgot it. To clear my words, instead of reminding buyers to hold on their bags in the first part of the buying journey, we convenient at the end of the buying journey. To extend this service is designed for those who forget to bring their sustainable bags to the store and they have no other options to get/buy plastic bags or spend again for fabric bags.
By registering in our system they can borrow sustainable bags and carry their goods. Then return it with various systems we make available for them.
This bag rental service, which has more features than plastic bags and can provide more features to the user with plugins (extensions), is offered to buyer at a price close to a plastic bag, however, the cost of bags are more than a plastic bag. So the question is how it can happen. We have designed some opportunities both for buyer and retailer to prefer to join this platform.
Features that can make this process economical and valuable for the manufacturer and the customer:
- The cost of each bag will be a fraction of its cost price, which after a period of retention in the price cycle becomes free and its revenue generates the production of new bags and delivery centers and additional product features such as the ability to connect to various wheels – gadgets To create space inside the bag, such as mobile phones, dairy products, fruits and vegetables/straps to put the bag on the shoulder, on the bag, etc.
- The type of bags can be used to generate revenue and reduce production costs, depending on the material available in each area, suitable bag samples for California
- Using a cashback service such as cashback, you can offer a step-by-step discount to bag-holding users to encourage them to use these bags in exchange for a discount. It is credited to the user’s account at the time of settlement in the box, 2.5% when returning the bag to the centers in a short time and 3% when repurchasing from the same store within a specified period of time. 2% share of the program to provide the user to the system
- Automatic settlement service with or without the need for a cashier for people who use the bags.
- Bags can be instantly deducted from the account deduction model instead of paying Pay as you go that the user first registers his bank account and for each day he keeps the bag, an amount will be deducted from the account on a daily, weekly or monthly basis and after reaching the actual price of the bag Turn the bag into a person’s bag.
Bag features:
• The material of the bags is appropriate for the type of environmentally friendly material in different countries (such as cloth, candle bags, durable and environmentally friendly plastics)
•The product identification code is a unique code for which only the bag is introduced Anonymous id and can be read via QRcode or Barcode which is printed or hacked on the bag
• The user can order the bag again if she forgets to provide the previous bag, because we are looking to reduce the plastic.
• The user can use the bag if she buys from several places and there is no need to re-charge
• The bags remind the user through the application and provide the nearest collection centers.
• Bags can be collected from the user’s home for free during the development phase through partner services (postal and transport companies) so that the user does not have to worry about collecting them.
Why can this idea help reduce plasticity?
Surveys have shown that in almost all countries, concerned people without forgetting to use plastic is one of the reasons for forgetting to carry a bag with them, and since the use of tools such as alarms to carry the bag has always existed, but Users are less inclined to carry something with them, and sometimes users make instant purchases. This service allows sales centers, different stores to reduce plastic users’ use of plastic bags or cancel their purchases by offering these bags to customers. On the other hand, due to the possibility of using the CashBack discount axis, stores can use this service to increase the user’s return to the store, help themselves, and increase the conversion rate of their customers.
And since the idea is based on current infrastructure, it allows for rapid development at the lowest cost.
What groups of users are considered most?
Due to the differences between people living in the Middle East and Europe and the United States, this group of users left the process in the first stage. And the user group, based on research, was reduced to people who met one of the following conditions
• They forgot to bring their bags with them from home and do not buy because they do not have enough bags.
• People who have to buy a plastic bag despite forgetting to take the bag from home or coming to the mall from outside the house and there is no alternative
• People who do not care about the environment and do not have a bag with them and have to use plastic bags
